The article proposes a psychological interpretation of some ethnographic materials on upbringing and socialization of children in the Komi tradition. The focus is made on the factors providing subjectivity (authorship) of children in their personal development. It is shown that these factors ensure the effectiveness of the whole process. Parallels with modern conceptions of childrens development and socialization are drawn.
