The article deals with the literary perception of the legendary “Beilis trial”. For the first time Vladimir Korolenko’s journalism, novels “The Fixer” by Bernard Malamud and “The Bloody Hoax” by Sholom Aleichem, as well as Alan Dandes’ folklore-anthropological studies are analyzed in a single context. In addition to typological similarities, various receptive moments in reflection of this notorious trial are marked, connected with the time distance or with its absence. The article brings to the fore not only a century-old fact of history, but also little-known literary works, introducing them into the academic discourse.
