The article studies certain names of dishes, which compose verbal portrait of the modern Daghestani menu. The given analysis represents various culinary pragmatonyms derived from proper names by secondary derivational process. The culinary names are semantically studied and classified according to the corresponding onyms. An attempt is made to explain the choice of onyms for commercial branding, as well as to examine some extralinguistic factors, underlying culinary nominations.
