Dedicated to the language features of the experiment of J. Joyce in his novels Ulysses and Finnegans Wake . Reduplication as a certain author’s literary device is thoroughly investigated includingits features and text functions. It is applied not only to strengthenan emotional component, but also to expand a semantic amplitude of the unit formed. It is emphasized that the latter is possible, including through the use of elements of other language systems by the writer. It is concluded that the features of the technique of J. Joyce complicate the process of perception of his works, deepen the ideological and substantive side of the novels, generating a variety of interpretations, participate in the creation of intertextuality and enrich the game space.
