The article analyzes the essence of the right of peoples to self-determination and cases of its implementation, provides differentiation of the concepts of "people" and "nation", and also examines the features of using a referendum as a way to implement the right of peoples to self-determination on specific examples, provides statistics of support by the population in each of the above cases. The conclusion is made about the importance of political self-determination within the state.
