The paper analyses the current status and support level of petition campaigns on waste management initiated by citizens of the Russian Federation on the Change.org platform from January 2014 to August 2019. The study revealed that during the period under review only a few e-petitions were noted by their authors as fully fulfilled their goals. Also the results of social mapping of the level of protest sentiment by Change.org users who opposed waste management facilities under construction or already operating in the territory of the Russian Federation are presented. It is shown that the petitional activity of citizens to one degree or another manifested itself in most regions. The highest protest potential against such objects is characteristic of the Moscow region, the lowest one for Far Eastern and North-Caucasus Federal Districts.
