The analysis of the results of the reforms of the post-Soviet period is updated against the background of the transformations taking place in modern Russian society. The article analyzes the assessments of the Dagestani population of the achievements and failures of reforming the socioeconomic and political foundations of the Russian state. The analytical material indicates the priority of the negative perception of the implemented reforms with the argument of deterioration of social wellbeing, standard of living and well-being of the population. A positive outcome of the reforms is the provision of broad opportunities for the population to practice religion. However, in modern Dagestani society, religious revival is accompanied by radicalization of consciousness and activation of Islamic institutions, which is perceived ambiguously by a certain part of Dagestani society. The Dagestani population considers the emergence of the private sector of the economy and the scope for entrepreneurial activity to be a positive outcome of the reforms. The Dagestani population determines the trajectory of further development of Russian society through the prism of the revival of the might of the Russian army and its Armed Forces, economic prosperity, and solving socio-economic, political, and ideological problems while consolidating society.
