Region as an object of management in market economy

The author considers problems of subjects of the Russian Federation at the present stage. The basic purposes of regional development, such as balanced spatial development, preservation of indigenous population in regions with low population density and necessity of definition of a place and a role of regions for global economy, are stated. The basic approaches to a region, as to an object of management, are considered. On the basis of the analysis of existing approaches, the author offers his own approach to a paradigm of a region, as isolated division of the state, having purposes and functions, indissolubly connected with interests of the whole state.
