The article raises the issues of relationship between multiple modernization and social capital in Russia’s regions. Social capital is considered as a factor that determines the specifics and pace of modernization. The article also shows the ways to measure social capital and the necessity to develop the indicators for making socio-cultural portraits of the regions with regard to Russia’s conditions.
