Protected area networks development in the region viewed as a basis for the ecological framework formation is an essential function of state government departments. 104 protected areas are operating in Altai Krai, including a variety of natural complexes. Protected area management is carried out at two main levels - federal and regional. Protected area networks development in Altai Krai focuses on the expansion of its areas and establishment of new ones. The expansion of current protected area system will ultimately reconcile with science-based regulatory standards.
