Regional tradition of production and consumption of alcoholic beverages: involvement in tourism

An integral elements of the intangible cultural heritage are the gastronomic traditions of the peoples, which include pro- duction technology of alcoholic drinks. The tradition of its production often has a long history, and the recipe is passed down from generation to generation. There are also known many historical forms of tradition of alcohol beverage consumption. The very tradition is not homogeneous and is composed of smaller elements (forms). Such forms include customs, rites, rituals, ceremonies and celebrations. Attachment to the tradition of a particular ethnic group makes it tied to the territory, the place of ethnicity data. That is why all forms of tradition are referred to the “strokes” of the territory, which form its unique image. For tourism gastronomic tradition undoubtedly are of particular interest. Tourist can get acquainted with them even during a short two-day tour. Gastronomic tourism is an interesting kind of sight-seeing tourism. During gastronomic tours tourists become acquaint- ed with the traditions of the production and consumption of certain foods, meals or drinks. The regional tradition of alcohol production and consumption are of great interest for both tourists and tourism organizers. The scientific and practical literature dedicates no or only little space to this question. That is why the practice of tourism business today, the term “wine tourism” is the most common. It should be noted that the wine is only one of numerous types of alcohol distributed in the market. Therefore, to call numerous whiskey tours, tours to the places of production of tequila, calva- dos, rum, grappa, etc. “wine” is not entirely correct. The article attempts to give a general name of tourist trips involving a visit to the alcohol production, as well as to ana- lyze the characteristics of their geography.
