The article is devoted to the expended differences in the legal regulation of liability for slander in the criminal legislation of Russia and Kazakhstan. The authors note the allocation of the occurrence of serious consequences as a qualifying sign of slander; the peculiarities of designing qualified corpus delicti of slander, accusing for committing a certain crime; the formation of the sanctions that contain a wide range of alternative basic punishments, which correspond to public danger of a considered crime as efficient legislative decisions, reflected in the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
