Recommendations for improving the organization of veterinary services for animal shelters

The article presents the results of research work on the development of "Recommendations for improving the organization of veterinary services in animal shelters", which include the procedure for the initial admission of an animal in a shelter, planning measures for the prevention of infectious diseases of dogs and cats in a shelter, socialization measures and correction of the stress-factor during veterinary manipulations in animals without owners, the organization of full-fledged feeding of animals without owners in shelters, as measures for the non-specific prevention of contagious and other animal diseases, the labor standards of veterinary specialists serving animal shelters. The recommendations were the result of comprehensive studies of the features of veterinary care for animals in shelters, conducted in the period 2019-2022, approved by the Scientific and technical council of the Kazan State Academy of Veterinary Medicine named after N.E. Bauman, are intended for practicing veterinary specialists and are designed to significantly improve the organization of veterinary services in animal shelters.
