A big number of historical sites on the territory of modern Armenia located in different parts of it and requiring reconstruction, dictates the need to switch to a faster and more reliable technology of restoration of architectural monuments. During the study of historical, archaeological, statistical, geographical materials, we obtained some information of how the reconstruction of temple architecture was carried out and developed on the territory of the Armenian highlands, and how to create the most optimal modern methodologies for preservation of temple architecture, taking into account the already-existing research. The author focuses on the importance and relevance of this topic, as the study of methods of reconstruction will allow to not only preserve the heritage of folk art and pass it on to future generations, but also study the peculiarities of national architecture and use this knowledge when designing new temples. While studying the characteristic features of temple architecture of the Armenian highlands, it can be concluded that the reconstruction can be carried out only with the help of the method of restoration. One of the main goals of such reconstruction is not to modify the volumetric compositional concept of the temple and to ensure the restoration of the lost architectural and historical appearance.
