The depiction of Prince Vladimir's crown on coins shows that gradually hiscrown became more elaborate. Zlatniks (gold coins) and srebreniks (silver coins) of type Iminted at the end of the 10th century delineate the crown as a Byzantine imperial stemma. The rest of the coins struck early in the 11th century display both the previous form andthe new form of the crown. The crown on srebreniks of type III is rendered with emphasized bands. Srebreniks of all types have variants where the crown is drawn in silhouette, including, possibly, the crown with a covered top rendered as a band decorated with gem-stones. The earliest variant of Vladimir's crown dating to the end of the 10th century isa stemma (either of open form or with soft cloth covering placed inside). By the early11th century Vladimir, probably, had a more modern crown. The most elaborate crown isheadwear with a top covering decorated with enamel plates. All crown variants retainedthe form of a stemma.
