The ancient Roman religion did not have a single organization and canons, but consisted of cults of various deities, being polytheism. The purpose of the work is: to find out the stages of the development of religion in ancient Rome. The article analyzes the process of formation of the religion of Ancient Rome. The concept of the main stages of the development of ancient Roman religion is given, the characteristic features for each stage and the religion of Ancient Rome as a whole are considered. The ancient Roman religion influenced the development of the well-known Roman law, as well as the separation of religion as a specific sphere of spiritual life.
