The purpose of this study is to identify the philosophical aspects of Martin Luther's religious ideology. The study is based on Luther's early and little-known works, the texts of his lecture courses of 1513-1516, his famous 95 theses of 1517 and his memoirs. Luther's religious-philosophical works from the early period, based on an interpretation of the Gospel and the texts of the apostles' epistles through the prism of the church fathers and W. Ockham, give an insight into the reformer's original world-view, which was later distorted to suit the political situation. Through his early religious-philosophical writings, which provided a well-reasoned critique of the spiritual and moral foundations and practices of the Catholic Church, Luther effectively contributed to the process of secularization. The pinnacle of Luther's reform activities was his translation of the Bible, subordinated to the achievement of a great goal - to teach people independent thinking and vital activity, essential in the nascent New Age. The paper uses methods of historical and philosophical analysis and a comparativist approach.
