Dostoevsky's religious and philosophical “symbol of faith” as interpreted by Vyacheslav Ivanov

The article examines the attitude of the Russian symbolist poet Vyacheslav Ivanov to F.M. Dostoevsky and the interpretation of his work. The author traces the development and continuity of Ivanov's main propositions about Dostoevsky as a religious and philosophical teacher in the works of different years. It is shown that the final work of Ivanov “Dostoevsky. Tragedy - Myth - Mysticism” was not only an interpretation of Dostoevsky's work in literary, mythological and religious aspects, but also an attempt at a holistic presentation of the writer's religious and philosophical worldview. The paper analyzes seven conceptual propositions formulated by Ivanov at the beginning of his final work as Dostoevsky's “symbol of faith”. It is proved that all the theses of this “creed” are, first of all, a conceptual expression of the religious and philosophical system of Ivanov himself. At the conclusion of the article, based on the analysis of these theses, its concise presentation is given.
