The author of this article examines the main stages in the study of the works of the outstanding Russian religious philosopher Yevgeny Trubetskoy in Russian historical and philosophical literature. Ye. N. Trubetskoy is rightfully considered the last major representative of classical idealism in Russian philosophy. Trubetskoy's writings attracted considerable attention in historical and philosophical studies in the early 1920's and during the entire period of the existence of the Russian Diaspora. However, Trubetskoy was relegated to almost complete oblivion or ideologically reinterpreted in the works of the Soviet period, and only since the mid-1990's, with the publication of the fundamental works of this philosopher, he has gradually begun to attract the attention of researchers of the history of Russian philosophy. Some of the main conclusions of these authors are mentioned in this article, designed to raise interest in the study of the creativity of Ye. N. Trubetskoy
