Religious art of the Semeiskiye Old Believers of the Transbaikal region: Carved icon case and icon of the Kunaley painting

Various territorial and cultural groups of the Old Believers developed Orthodox religious art in the specific conditions of their regions. Apart from transregional cultural (also in line with agreement) and trade communications, the specifics of the resettlement in the regions influenced this process. The Semeiskiye Old Believers in the Transbaikal region had not only their own version of the «front corner» design but also of its content. Besides the icons brought, the carved icon cases and painted images of local production were used in their religious life, in particular. These phenomena became an important part of the local Old Believers’ cultural heritage.
