The article deals with the problem of political repressions executed by state authorities during the Great Patriotic War. The particular attention is paid to the fate of the people arrested in the territory of the Buryat-Mongolian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic in the period of 1941-1945. The statistical data on the number of victims of political repression are presented in article on materials of seven volumes «Book of Memory to the Victims of Political Repressions». The author has revealed the types of punishment and the duration of restraint in the war period, defined gender and age composition of citizens who were repressed in the Buryat-Mongolian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. The article emphasizes that the repressive Stalinist policy in the Buryat-Mongolian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic went through the same forms and stages, as in other areas of the country. In conclusion, the author concludes that the repression before and during the war contributed to the decline in the defense capability of our country, caused more confusion and chaos, both in the public consciousness and in the state administration.
