Reading the works of Buryat writers for children provides opportunities for the preservation and transmission of significant traditional values and socio-cultural experience to new generations. An example of the young children's study of Buryat literature is given. As an example of a piece intended for children, the author analyzes the fairy tale play «The Wise Maiden Nogoodoy» by playwright Mikhail Batoin, staged at the Buryat state theater «Ulger» in 1992. This play demonstrates the values of the Buryat traditional culture, sung in folklore genres, primarily in uligers - folk epic legends of the Buryats. The play's heroine is shown as a wise patroness of all life on earth reminding the connection between man and natural forces, and also of the value of family ties.
