Текст научной статьи Research of the problems of world musical culture and ways of studying it
Various methods and approaches were used for a comprehensive analysis of the problems of world musical culture. First of all, a systematic study of the existing scientific literature was conducted, including both modern research and historical works on musical culture. The main focus was on sources covering musical traditions of various cultures and continents, which made it possible to identify both common features and unique characteristics.
The second important source of data was field research conducted in different regions of the world. These studies included participation in musical events, interviews with musicians and experts, and analysis of audiovisual materials. The use of modern technologies such as digital recording and sound analysis has allowed us to obtain more accurate data on musical practices and their changes.
The research methodology included both qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis. Qualitative analysis allowed us to understand the cultural and social contexts of musical practices, while the quantitative approach helped to identify statistical patterns and trends in the development of musical genres and styles.
Results and discussions
One of the main problems of world musical culture is its commercialization. In recent decades, there has been an increase in the influence of large record companies on the creation and distribution of music. This leads to the standardization of musical content, which can threaten the uniqueness of local traditions. For example, many ethnic genres are threatened with extinction due to the dominance of pop music in the international arena [1].
Another important problem is cultural appropriation – the process of borrowing elements of one culture from another without due respect or understanding of their meaning. This often causes debate among musicians and researchers about the extent to which it is acceptable to use elements of foreign cultures in one's own work [2]. An example is the use of African rhythms in Western popular music without regard for their historical context.
Globalization undoubtedly has a significant impact on world musical culture. One of the main effects is the increase in cultural exchange and the mixing of styles. The interaction between different musical traditions leads
- Исторические науки и археология- to the emergence of new genres and styles, such as world pop and fusion. For example, in recent decades, there has been an increase in the popularity of Latin music outside of Latin America, due to both migration flows and global popularization through the Internet and media [3].
However, globalization also carries the risk of cultural homogenization, which leads to the leveling of unique musical traditions. This phenomenon is observed, for example, in Asian and African countries, where traditional musical practices are often influenced by Western trends, sometimes leading to a loss of originality and significance of local traditions [4].
The technological revolution in the music industry, including digitalization and the Internet, has led to significant changes in the ways music is created, distributed and perceived. Digital instruments and software have allowed musicians to experiment with new sounds and techniques, pushing the boundaries of traditional genres and formats [5]. Online platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube have changed the way music is distributed. These platforms provide artists with the opportunity to reach a global audience, which facilitates the spread of diverse musical styles. However, these platforms also influence musical preferences, as recommendation algorithms can contribute to the creation of a “cultural butterfly,” where the popularity of certain genres or artists is largely dependent on their representation in digital algorithms [6]. Cultural exchange has a two-way effect on musical practices. On the one hand, it contributes to the enrichment of musical language and the expansion of expressive means. For example, the introduction of African rhythmic elements into Western pop music has led to the creation of new, unique styles [7]. On the other hand, cultural exchange can also lead to the simplification and commercialization of traditional forms. In some cases, elements of traditional music can be simplified or adapted to such an extent that they lose their cultural significance [8].
Conclusions
As a result of the conducted research, several key conclusions can be made. Firstly, the world musical culture is in a state of active transformation under the influence of globalization and new technologies. This creates both new opportunities for cultural exchange and integration, and causes problems associated with the preservation of cultural identity and traditional musical practices.
Secondly, it is necessary to develop interdisciplinary approaches to the study of musical culture, including anthropological, sociological and technological aspects. This will allow for a more complete consideration of the diversity of musical traditions and their changes in the context of global processes.
Thirdly, it is important to consider both the positive and negative consequences of globalization for musical culture. The creation of strategies for maintaining cultural diversity and preventing cultural homogenization will contribute to the preservation of unique musical traditions and their adaptation to modern conditions.
Further research is needed to understand the long-term effects of globalization on musical traditions and to develop strategies aimed at supporting and preserving cultural diversity. An interdisciplinary approach and the integration of various research methods will contribute to a deeper understanding of the complex processes occurring in world musical culture.
