Retorsions in international law: legal aspects. Problems of limitation with related categories

In the conditions of unstable political and economic situation, states begin to introduce various kinds of restrictions against each other. One such restriction is the use of retortions. This article examines the characteristic features of this institution, allowing to reveal its nature in international law. Special attention was given to the types of retortions, in particular, private-law and public retortions were considered. The issue of distinguishing this institution from related categories, such as reprisals and sanctions, was raised.
