Liver resection in situ split: new strategy in treatment of primary unresectable liver tumors

The surgical method is the basic in treatment of primary and metastatic liver tumors today. At the time of establishment the diagnosis many patients have multiple bilobar metastatic knots in liver that limits possibility of radical operation performance. The heaviest complication after extensive liver resections is the liver failure caused by the small volume of remaining parenchyma of remnant. In the present article the surgical equipment, tactics of patients treatment and preliminary results of new two-stage approach allowing to expand the contingent potentially the resectable patients is schematically described.
