This paper deals with the administrative regime of special settlement imposed by Soviet power structures in the places of residence of deportees and cases of their illegitimate criminal prosecution. Based on archival materials, the author analyzes the punitive practices executed by Soviet law enforcement agencies against people who were wrongly accused of breaking the law.
