Results of archaeological study at the Gornopravdinsk burial ground in 2015 field season

Article presents the preliminary results of archaeological excavation at the Gornopravdinsk burial ground in 2015. Gornopravdinsk burial ground is situated in the right bank of Irtysh River in the township of Gornopravdinsk, Khanty-Mansiysk district of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District - Yugra. The object is the old cemetery of the Philinskoe village, which was the provincial capital of Denshchikovskaya volost of Tobolsk district in the late 19 century. At present time the burial ground are in disrepair in consequence of the caving-in of Irtysh River bank. First, site was excavated in 2007. The excavated area amounted to 210 m 2 in 2015. In the course of investigation it was uncovered 36 burial pits and more than 40 graves. Ten burial pits contained from 2 to 4 graves. Most of them is the wooden coffin graves. Excavated anthropological material did not preserve fine. On the basis of sex and age, the found burials represent 9 male and 23 female graves. The equipment includes crosses worn next to the skin, leather footwear, and clothes - cloth trousers, fragments of the wrapper, belts, wraps and socks. The conducted work permitted to enlarge range of sources of the material culture of Russian old-timers who lived in the North of Western Siberia in 18-19 centuries. The lids of the wooden coffin were covered by multilayer birch bark. Such graves were studied for the first time.
