In thefield season of2018, archaeological and geophysical explorations were conducted near the village of Besh-Ozek, Shebalinsky District of the Altai Republic. One of the objectives was to search for burial complexes of the Karakol culture. Localization of the monuments in this area relied on the evidence obtained during excavations of a Karakol burial site at the village of Besh-Ozek in 1989. Geophysical surveys were carried out at the site of the supposed Bronze Age mounds. No features undoubtedly associated with the presence of a burial beneath the embankment have been noted. During the explorations, a burial monument was discovered in the Oydyk area on the left bank of the Adatkan River; the monument was explored by a set of geophysical methods; original petroglyphs of ethnographic time were found.
