The results of the dendrochronological studies of the wooden fence around the Michael Archangel Monastery in Arkhangelsk

The paper contains results of dendrochronological dating of a wooden fence identified during excavations within the compound of the Michael Archangel Monastery in Arkhangelsk. Using methodological approaches applied in the dendrochronological studies of dendroprovenancing, the ring-tree chronology (1493-1701) obtained for 17 pine samples was compared with other chronologies of Russian North, including architectural sites of the Arkhangelsk region and Karelia. Such comparison of similarity demonstrates that, in many respects, the results of similar research tasks depend on the method applied. At the same time it is possible that the assessment results and the conclusions made on their basis will not be confirmed in case other similarity coefficients or methods of time series transformation are used in the assessment.
