Results of surgical treatment of unstable fractures of the distal forearm in the metaepiphyseal zone

We performed a comparative analysis of the treatment of groups of patients with unstable fractures of the distal forearm using the traditional ORIF technique with a volar locking plate and the developed minimally invasive method of osteosynthesis with short wires with open external supports. Comparable immediate and long-term treatment results were obtained. At the same time, the developed method of surgical treatment has a number of advantages, which include: low invasion, a decrease in the duration of surgery, a decrease in the duration of inpatient treatment, and a favorable cosmetic result of treatment.This allows us to expand the arsenal of tools for providing trauma care to patients with unstable fractures of the distal forearm.
