The results of surgical isolation of the left atrium in the treatment of atrial fibrillation in patients with coronary artery disease and pathology of the mitral valve

Case histories of 100 patients operated on during the period from January 2009 to October 2010 were analyzed retrospectively. All the patients underwent left atrial procedures «maze» in the treatment of atrial fibrillation combined with bicuspid valve surgery. Left atrial procedure «maze» in the treatment of atrial fibrillation combined with mitral valve pathology correction is an effective technique of sinus rhythm restoration based on the results of the early follow-up and its results are comparable with those of other modifications of the «maze» procedure.
