The results of studying production waste from the medieval shoe shop (the case of Pereyaslavl Ryazansky)

The paper describes results of the studies relating to the leather waste from a shoe shop discovered at the Vvedensky excavation trench in Pereyaslavl Ryazansky which date to the last quarter of the 15th - turn of the 16th centuries. The waste was classified into categories, with their statistics provided and systematization of technological marks impressed on the surface of leather scraps after pattern cutting of the leather. Some samples of the leather and birch bark scraps from pattern cutting of shoe parts reveal marks left by the tools employed.
