Laser coagulation in outpatient treatment of patients with chronic internal hemorrhoids: treatment outcomes

The study included 85 patients that were divided into two groups. The experimental group included patients who underwent laser coagulation of internal hemorrhoids, whereas participants from the control group underwent ligation of internal hemorrhoids. One year later, 3 patients (7.89%) from the experimental group and 7 patients (18.42%) from the control group developed relapses of hemorrhoids. Laser coagulation of internal hemorrhoids allows effective and safe outpatient treatment of patients with grade II internal hemorrhoids ensuring good short-term and long-term outcomes.
