The results of reconstructive surgeries for the elbow ankyloses

The aim of this work consisted in analysing treatment results of 27 patients at the age of 5-38 years with bone ankyloses of different etiology, revealing failure causes after arthroplastic surgeries, substantiation of the most perspective variants of the ankylosed joint reconstructions. In cases of acquired ankyloses of the elbow osteotomy should be made at the level of the joint ankylosed. As for congenital ankyloses, the insertion levels of forearm flexors and extensors should be taken into consideration in these cases. Modelling of the humerus articular surface at central angle of 320 degrees is the best way. If the central angle decreases to 180 degrees, the ulnar articular surface should be formed as a sloping arc.
