The purpose of the work is to systematize the risks and threats to the economic security of the region caused by the digital transformation of the economy and to assess their impact on the socio-economic development of the regions. On the basis of a comprehensive analysis of the planning documents and scientific literature, the systematization of risks and threats to the economic security of the region was carried out and the risks of systemic, structural, risks of socio-economic development of regions, risks of enterprises and personal risks were identified. From the point of view of the impact on the socio-economic development of the region, the greatest danger is posed by social risks caused by an increase in unemployment, an increase in the income gap and an increase in poverty, as well as personnel risks. A systematic analysis of regional planning documents has shown that they focus on macroeconomic risks. As for the risks caused by digitalization processes, personnel risks and risks caused by digital inequality are mainly highlighted. The simulation results indicate a more intensive development of digitalization processes in regions with a high level and quality of life, which confirms the relevance of the risks of growing digital inequality.
