Risks of staff shortage in the food retail segment: main problems and their solutions

The article examines the problems of employment and personnel shortages in the Russian economy, caused primarily by demographic, economic, technological, and socio-psychological factors. The risks of staff shortages in food retail are identified. If previously a business was faced with the task of selecting the best candidates from a huge pool of applicants, then in a scarce labor market it is necessary to compete with other employers, expanding the horizons of hiring personnel to all target audiences of applicants, increasing the image of the employing organization and offering better working conditions. Based on the research results, strategies have been proposed for attracting and retaining employees in food retail, helping to overcome the crisis of personnel shortages.
