Health risks of veterinary workers, breerders and meat-processing industry workers contacting brucellosis infected animals and raw

The study of hygienic characteristics of working conditions, the results of epidemiological surveys, hospital records and survey data of 202 patients with professional brucellosis veterinary workers, breeders and workers of meat-processing industry (WFP) in the Omsk region in order to determine the health risks. In the presence of contact with the pathogens of infectious and parasitic diseases ( biological risk ) of the working conditions of all the examined patients were harmful (3.3) or dangerous (4) class. In addition to biological factors, some workers were exposed to the combined effect of microclimate cooling, uncomfortable light environment, the severity and intensity of the work process (class 3.1-3.3). Epidemiological risk result of the absence or shortage of disinfectants, unimproved industrial, residential premises and territory; and lack of centralized hot water supply, shower, separate areas for eating, equipment for cleaning aborted and stillborn fetuses and placentas, equipped burial grounds, medical kits. The cause hygienic risks to health were insufficient to ensure detergents, lack of centralized cloth washing overalls inadequate supply of personal protective equipment. The absence of pre-admission to work, irregular and of poor quality, and periodic medical examinations of the above represent a professional risk to workers’ health. Qualitative assessment of behavioral health risks identified, showed a significant proportion of studied patients did not pay enough attention to medical and hygienic behavior, violation of work and rest conditions (floating working hours with rotating shifts), nutrition, sleep and wakefulness, the various aspects of self-preservation: consuming alcohol and tobacco, underestimation of vaccination against brucellosis, the passage of medical examination, failure to seek medical help.
