The problem of alcohol dependence remains one of the key social and medical challenges of modern society . The search for effective diagnostic methods plays an important role in the prevention and rehabilitation of addicted people . The article discusses the use of drawing tests as a tool of projective psychodiagnostics, which allows to identify the hidden motives of alcohol consumption, the degree of awareness of the existing problem of addiction, attitudes to rehabilitation measures, as well as internal conflicts and features of the emotional state of the individual . The study was conducted among convicts with alcohol dependence, divided into two groups: those undergoing rehabilitation and those who refused them . As part of the diagnosis, the author’s “Draw your addiction” technique was used . The analysis of the drawings showed significant differences between the groups in the degree of awareness of the problem, the symbolism of liberation, the detail of the images and their emotional expression . Inmates who underwent rehabilitation more often depicted symbols of struggle with addiction, while participants of the second group demonstrated a passive attitude or denial of the problem .Drawing tests confirm their effectiveness in diagnosing alcohol dependence, identifying individual characteristics of personality and motivation for treatment . They can be used in comprehensive rehabilitation programs to increase awareness of the problem and develop personalized therapy strategies.
