Ritual enclosures of the Kent settlement

Бесплатный доступ

At the final stage of the Bronze Age the Sargary-Alekseevskaya culture (SAC) that formed part of the Roller Ceramics cultural entity spread across Kazakhstan and the Russian part of the Altai. Kent (Karaganda region, Kazakhstan) is the largest SAC settlement. Three stone enclosures that are much larger and higher than the dwellings are located on the eastern fringe of the site. The paper is devoted to the publication of the materials from one of the enclosures. The constructive features are considered and a description of the material is presented. Proceeding from the analysis of certain features and a number of analogies the conclusion is made that the large enclosures at Kent functioned as ritual structures.
