Role of apolipoprotein-E in development of hypertriglyceridemia in residents of the European north of Russia

The level of apolipoprotein-E in the blood serum of residents of the European North of Russia with normolipidemia and hypertriglyceridemia was studied. It was shown that development of hypertriglyceridemia in northerners is observed at low apolipoprotein-E level and is determined by the decrease in the receptormediated clearance of very low density lipoproteins and the disturbance of metabolic conversions of these lipoproteins.
