The article examines the role of physical training and sports in the professional development of law enforcement officers. Based on contemporary research, it argues that physical culture constitutes a fundamental component of professional competence, shaping the physical, psychophysiological, and psychological readiness required for operational activities. The study highlights the importance of strength, coordination, volitional qualities, stress resistance, and operational resilience formed through a comprehensive system of physical training. Systemic challenges in departmental training are identified, including the decline in physical activity after graduation and insufficient integration of training routines into real service. The article emphasizes the need to shift from a normative-discipline model to a motivational and value-oriented approach, in which physical culture becomes an integral part of the officer’s professional identity.
