The article examines the vulnerable position of small business in the conditions of sanctions pressure, and the role of franchising as one of the effective tools for the development of small business in Russia. The socially significant functions of franchising, statistical data are given and the competitive advantages of franchising as the most effective business model in comparison with traditional business are substantiated.
