The role of frame in the interpretation of elliptical utterances

The article discusses the interpretation of ellipsis through the theory of frames. The research material was the horror novel by S. King "Duma Key" in English. The analysis performed allows us to conclude that reference to frames contributes to the correct understanding of elliptical utterances. By activating a certain frame, the addressee transfers the content of the elliptical utterance into a model known independently of the discourse.
