The role of hypertourism in creating political outlook by the KDF organization in Germany (1933-1939)

The article analyzes the problem of hypertourism in the political and ideological dimension. Based on an analysis of the activities of the organization “Kraft durch Freude (KdF)” and the resort «Prora» on Island Ruegen in 1933-1939 it is concluded that promotion of mass tourism can serve political and ideological outlook. Based on statistical data, the author analyzes the formation of the tourist flow, perception of mass tourism in Nazi Germany in the 30-40s of the twentieth century. The author analyzes the organization “KdF” from the perspective of a “Factory of Ideology”, its role in the formation of political values. The article examines the role of event tourism from the perspective of its attachment to “closed” destinations. Creation of the ideal model of attraction in Nazi Germany supposed a series of preparatory measures for racial and ideological purification. Studying the sources and literature of the issue has showed that the KdF projects were one of the attempts to simulate the desire to create a “popular community”. The sea resort “Prora” for the German worker, widely advertised in the Press, in practice by 1937 was already determined by the State as a hospital in the context of impending war. But at the same time, the simulation of “paradise” and “peaceful island” made it possible to mobilize the broad masses of the population and reinforce the idea of social action and “comprehensive care of the state” in the consciousness of the lower classes.
