The study involved 215 women aged 18 to 35 years (average age was 25.8±3.28 years) with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), who were included in the main group and 30 absolutely healthy women of identical age in the control group. Based on the results of studies conducted to discover the nature of correlations, we identified the presence of a significantly negative correlation between SHBG indicators and levels of LH (r=-0.62; p˂0.05), free testosterone (r=-0.65; p˂ 0.05), IGF-I (r=-0.22; p˂0.05), insulin (r=-0.17; p˂0.05), HOMA index (r=-0.12; p ˂0.05) and AMH (r=-0.1; p˂0.05) in PCOS and a positive correlation was found between the levels of SHBG and FSH (r=0.62; p˂0.05). A correlation between SHBG and inhibin B was not revealed (r=0.63 p>0.05). Thus, a decrease in the level of SHBG in the blood serum is a predictor of the formation of PCOS.
