The role of fiction in English language teaching

This article is devoted to the study of the role of fiction in teaching English. The paper analyzes the linguistic potential of a literary text, the identification of which serves as the basis for the further development of a set of exercises for the formation of reading skills of English-language fiction. The right approach to mastering this skill not only motivates students to read more in a foreign language, but also significantly increases the level of foreign language proficiency.
