Role and place of military discipline in the military development system of the Russian state in the pre-revolutionary period: historical analysis

The article shows the role of military discipline in the general system of military formation. It identifies the main factors influencing the increasing role of military discipline and order in the army. The author also reveals military and organizational activity of the Russian state in order to improve law and order and military discipline in the prerevolutionary period. Complex study of the problem helps to objectively assess the views of military theorists and practitioners of the past on the ways of ensuring the discipline among officers and lower ranks. The article contributes to deeper understanding of forms and methods of work which strengthen law and order and military discipline, basic directions and tendencies of the process, take into consideration historical experience of state and military authorities while establishing order and discipline in the army.
