The role and tasks of traffic patrol service in the administrative investigation of road traffic accidents

The study focuses on the Traffic Patrol Service activities in the field of road safety. The research presents the statistics for road traffic accidents that occurred on the territory of the Russian Federation and their main factors. The principal tasks of the Traffic Patrol Service while investigating the road traffic accidents are reviewed. The paper describes the immediate actions of the Traffic Patrol Service officers upon arrival at the accident scene. The author developed recommendations for registration of the road traffic accidents by patrol officers. The survey findings can be used while training the Traffic Patrol Service officers and in higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. Besides, this research will serve as a base for further theoretical elaborations in the field of law enforcement and administrative law.
