The role and significance of digitalization of environmental protection for Russia’s transition to green economy standards

The article analyzes the role and significance of digitalization in our country’s transition to a “green” economy. It is proved that the environmental potential of “green” technologies can be successfully realized only in the conditions of a fundamentally different organizational, management and information support system for all production processes in the field of environmental management. In turn, the construction of such a system becomes a critically important task within the framework of the environmental policy of the Russian state, the solution of which determines the prospects for the sustainable development of our society. Specific information technologies and the possibilities of their application in the field of environmental management and environmental protection are considered. Pointing out the technological advantages of “digitals”, the author at the same time draws attention to the problematic aspects of their use. It is concluded that the digital transformation of the environmental sphere is one of the practical tools for transferring our economy to “green” rails, and, accordingly, a tool for establishing the necessary balance between human industrial activity and the environment.
