The article analyzes the impact of environmental pressure on economic security in the context of regional development. Much attention is given to the increasing scale of anthropogenic impact on the environment which leads to an increase in the dependence between the total level of economic security of the regions and its environmental component. It provides a detailed interrelated analysis of social, environmental and economic processes, which ensures the systematic achievement of economic efficiency, social protection and environmental safety in a region. Based on the definition of interdependent components of regional economic security, the risks of regional security, namely environmental, economic and social risks, were identified. At the same time, unsolved environmental problems in the regions mainly lead to an increase in negative consequences, both in social and economic subsystems. In this regard, the authors propose an algorithm to assess the level of environmental pressure in the system of regional economic security. The algorithm is based on the method of a complex aggregated system of indicators that take into account various aspects of the environmental situation in the region. The proposed approach was tested on some regions of the Ural Federal district, and the conclusion was made that there are no significant results in reducing the environmental pressure and achieving high quality of the environment. Undoubtedly, the obtained provisions and conclusions will allow the regional authorities to make informed decisions on the definition of regional policy in the environmental sphere, to identify priority areas for financing regional development programs in order to achieve a high level of economic security.
